I'll address my absence (and the allegations of my homo-sexuality) in another blog entry... This one is for one of the films I'd so-hoped to see last year at Sundance: (500) Days of Summer. When it comes to indi films, I've found that my favorite type seems to be the relationship/love story. Yes yes, get your yucks in now. Are we good? Good.
I find that I learn a lot about myself, about people and my own relationships when exploring them through the eyes of someone else. 500 Days of Summer, as it will tell you in it's trailer, and in the film itself, "is not a love story". It's a story about love... and at times, lack there-of.
From a cinematic point of view, it's well done. It's got a little indi-tone to it, meaning the shots are clearly not multi-million dollar camera crew "one of a kind" shots, but the directory took care to make sure this looked really good.
What's most compelling about this is the story and the cast. These are people you can relate to - every day jobs, every day things we all do - and feelings we all have. It's smart, and funny and anything but pretencious.
I don't want to say too much, especially because Skinde and a few other readers have not yet seen it, but I'll leave it at this: It's a good movie. You'll laugh, you'll feel and if you're really lucky, you'll take something away from it.
I'm going to give this an A for story, an B+ for cinematography and suggest you curl up with someone you care about, share a glass of wine and enjoy.
Well Fat and Skinde have done it again - We ran the Wason Pond Pounder, and this year we did it TWICE! [FLV:0036_Wason2012.
OFFICIAL REVIEW: The Hunger Games
On a whim I decided to go to the movies last night. As I browsed Fandango looking for something to watch, I noticed the overwhelming amount of press that The Hunger Games was getting.
It's been forever since we posted anything on here, so here's what we did over the past weekend. We ran a race! No, seriously, we ran a race.
NH Brewers Festival, We're Going!
Fat and I are heading off to the Southern NH Brewers Festival, hosted by White Birch Brewing. As VIP's (The only way we roll) we will have a meet and greet with all the brewers, dinner, music and of course beer tasting by all the craft brewers in the southern NH area.
